PayPal Gateway Setup
Setting up a PayPal gateway on the Speir Platform
This is a two-step process, first, you will need a PayPal business account, second during that setup, you will get the required to enter the credentials into your payment settings click here on Speir.
Step 1 Setting up a PayPal gateway (Click Here for PayPal Instructions)
Involves several steps, which include creating and verifying your PayPal Business account, customizing payment preferences, setting up payment buttons, integrating PayPal API, and finally going live with your payment system. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you set up a PayPal gateway, including details on the location of the Business email address, process type, and Identity token:
- Create a PayPal Business Account Here: First, you need to create a PayPal Business account on the PayPal website. During the sign-up process, you'll provide the necessary details including your email address, business name, and contact information.
- Verify Your Account: After creating your account, you'll need to verify it by linking and confirming a bank account or credit card associated with your business.
- Customize Payment Preferences: Log in to your PayPal Business account, navigate to the "Settings" section, and set up your preferred currency, payment notifications, and other relevant settings.
- Integrate PayPal API: For more advanced customization, use PayPal’s API (PayPal Guide Here), which allows a direct connection between your website or application and PayPal.
- Test Transactions (PayPal Guide Here}: It's important to test your payment process in PayPal's sandbox environment to ensure everything functions correctly before accepting real payments.
- Obtain PayPal Identity Token: To get your PayPal Identity Token, access your PayPal dashboard, navigate to Account Settings → Website payments (Click Here to Go to PayPal Settings), and click the Update link next to Website preferences. Enable Auto return for website payments and Payment data transfer. The identity token should appear at the bottom of the section.
- Obtain API Credentials: From the PayPal dashboard, go to Account Settings → Account access (Click Here to Go to PayPal Settings) and click the Update link beside API access. Navigate to NVP/SOAP API integration (Classic), click Manage API credentials, and follow the steps to get your API credentials.
Step 2 Setting up a PayPal gateway in your Speir Settings
- From your account dropdown menu select Settings > Payments (Click Here)
Activating and Credentials
- Click the Activate checkbox
- Select Live or Sandbox Mode
- Enter your PayPal Business email address
- Select Process Type from Direct, PDT, or IPN
- Enter your Live Identity Token
- Enter your Sandbox Identity Token
- Click Save
