Antonov: Biden Administration Pushes World Towards Nuclear Catastrophe

Oct. 5—The Biden Administration is pushing the world toward nuclear catastrophe, warned the Russian Federation Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, according to TASS , the official Russian new agency, Oct. 4.

“I’ve told the Americans, I’ve told my colleagues in the White House and the U.S. Department of State that you are pushing [the world] towards a nuclear catastrophe,” Antonov said in an interview with The Great Game TV show on Russia’s Channel One. “I mean the Ukrainian crisis and the current U.S. policies in the Middle East. They are supporting one party to the conflict, and this is absolutely not conducive to peace."

Antonov also revealed that he tried to explain Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposed amendments to the Russian nuclear doctrine to officials in the White House and the Department of State: “This matter is of particular importance for me, because, in essence, the Americans are waging the war against us, but with the hands of Ukrainians.”

Ambassador Antonov further described the danger that the United States could provoke nuclear war if the U.S. administration should give permission to Kyiv to use U.S.-supplied weapons for deep strikes inside Russia: “We need to once again mention the possible U.S. decision to encourage Ukrainians to use long-range U.S. weapons for strikes deep into the Russian territory. This is not just a major step towards escalation. By doing this, the U.S. administration is paving the way towards a nuclear conflict."

Antonov reiterated how important it is to avoid a nuclear war, as there can be no winners in such a conflict.
