Eurofools in Flight Forward Over U.S. National Security Strategy
Dec. 10—Facing the genuine declaration of war on the European Union and NATO contained in the U.S. National Security Strategy 2025, Eurofools are reacting in a flight forward, i.e., calling for more EU, more rearmament etc. A blue ribbon Eurocrat, former EU Commission President Romano Prodi, went so far as to acknowledge the death of NATO in an interview with Raitre television program “Agorà” on Dec. 10.
The new NSS envisions “a world in which two or three [nations, the U.S., Russia and China] rule and the others should not get on their nerves (non rompono le scatole),” said Prodi. “If one is consistent with what Trump says, NATO is reduced to nothing. So far, NATO has been the U.S.A.” It is no longer a viable “alliance” and therefore it “must be challenged.”
Asked what he would do first if he were EU Commission head again, Prodi answered: “Unite Europe, and let [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orban go to hell (andare a farsi friggere).” Since “Trump plays uniquely on Europe’s division,” “Europe” (read: the EU) should “abolish unanimity” voting, i.e., member states’ veto power within the EU Council.
As president of the EU Commission (1999-2004), Prodi implemented the largest expansion of the EU, with 10 new member states, and has always been in support of Ukraine’s membership.
