Fudan University Reports on Emergency Roundtable Convened by ‘World-Renowned EIR’

Jan. 19—China’s famous Fudan University, based in Shanghai, posted a report on the Jan. 12 Emergency International Roundtable on Venezuela organized, as they wrote, by “the world-renowned magazine Executive Intelligence Review (EIR).” The Dean of the China Institute at Fudan University, Prof. Zhang Weiwei, spoke there “as the Chinese representative,” it reported.

“Nearly 20 senior political and strategic experts from the Americas, Eurasia, and Africa participated, engaging in in-depth discussions on the topic of ‘It’s Worse Than You Think: The Implications of the Attack on Venezuela and How To Bring the World Back from the Brink,’” the university reported. The names and titles of each of the speakers were listed, all of whom “strongly condemned the United States’ aggressive actions against Venezuela, considering it a blatant violation of international law based on the UN Charter and a serious infringement upon Venezuela’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The university singled out key points of Professor Zhang’s remarks, starting with his warning that the U.S. actions against Venezuela “will inevitably backfire on the U.S. itself,” shaking its alliance system and “the so-called ‘rules-based international order’ long promoted by the West.” Alarm bells have sounded for American allies which for years “have blindly followed the U.S. in pursuing so-called ‘values-based diplomacy,’ instigating color revolutions in many countries under the guise of ‘humanitarian intervention,’ bringing immeasurable and profound suffering to the people of many countries around the world.”

Also noted was Professor Zhang’s emphasis on the urgency of all countries jointly defending “the international legal system, with the UN Charter at its core … [against] any attempt to erode its foundations—whether it be Trump-style bullying, so-called ‘humanitarian intervention’ promoted by the West under various pretexts, or the resurgence of Japanese militarism that brought profound disasters to many countries.”

A screenshot showed the multiple speakers in the roundtable. The caption under it emphasized the crucial role which EIR magazine in global policymaking has played to this day since its founding “in 1974 by American economist and political activist Lyndon LaRouche:”

“The Executive Intelligence Review is an information journal focusing on global strategic analysis and policy research. It analyzes major international issues from a cross-regional and interdisciplinary perspective, providing policymakers, experts, scholars, and readers concerned with the common future of humanity with an analytical framework independent of mainstream Western narratives through in-depth reports, situation assessments, and strategic dialogues,” it acknowledged. “After 50 years of development, EIR has become a strategic information reference platform with significant international influence.”
