Iran Strikes Israeli Nuclear Weapons Facility

March 12—For the first time ever, an enemy has struck at the heart of Israel's nuclear weapons program, when an Iranian missile hit the Shimon Perez Negev Nuclear Research Center, commonly called Dimona. Usually reliable sources in Israel and in Washington confirm that Dimona was targeted and hit by an Iranian missile earlier this week, although there are no reliable reports of the damage to the facility, which is protected by several layers of missile defense.

At least one social media report says that the facility was damaged and "scientists and other personnel were killed."

Israeli government or military spokesmen will not comment on the attack. For decades, Israel has practiced what is called "strategic ambiguity" regarding its nuclear weapons program, neither confirming nor denying its existence. Experts in the field estimate that Israel has an arsenal of "over 100" nuclear weapons, including battlefield or tactical weapons.

A source with decades of experience in the region, says that an attack on Dimona "is delivering a stern message to Tel Aviv, who had considered the site invulnerable. It tells Israel that Iran can and will hit any target it deems necessary. While attack did not destroy the facility, a larger attack that pierced the defensive barrier could have." The source reported that Israeli media censors have blocked all reporting of the alleged attack, which came as Israeli aircraft struck an Iranian nuclear facility.

The Pentagon has offered no comment on the attack. However, sources report that it is increasingly worried that Iran might choose to fire waves of drones designed for use against naval vessels against ships of the so-called Great Armada, targeting the huge American aircraft carriers. One source said that Iran could get through the fleet's defensives, if enough drones are fired. "Imagine what that would do for the already weakening support for Trump's attack on Iran among his MAGA base," the source said.

Two days ago, influential podcaster Joe Rogan, a strong supporter of Trump, called the President's attack on Iran "insane" and in Israel's interest, not Americas.

“Well, it just seems so insane, based on what he ran on. I mean, this is why a lot of people feel betrayed, right?” Rogan said during his March 10 podcast. “He ran on, ‘No more wars,’ ‘End these stupid, senseless wars,’ and then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.”
