NASA Administrator To Attend Next Launch of Russia’s Soyuz to ISS
Feb. 14—NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced that he would be attending the next launch of Russia’s Soyuz to the International Space Station. “I’m definitely planning to attend the next Soyuz launch. I have a good friend who’s going on that mission, so it’s hard to imagine missing it,” he said at a Feb. 13 press conference celebrating the launch of the Crew-12 mission, reported Izvestia.
Isaacman said that cooperation with Russia assures the continued and relatively safe exploration of space, noting that the ISS will continue flying for a long time and that the U.S. and Russia still have much work to do. Preparations are also being made for him to meet with Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Bakanov. Sources report that President Donald Trump has authorized an invitation to Russia's space agency to attend next month's launch of the Artemis II mission to circle the moon.
