NATO/Ukraine Resumes ATACMS Strikes on Russia
Dec. 12—The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement Dec. 11 reporting that Ukrainian forces, with U.S./NATO support, launched a long-range strike against a military airfield in Taganrog, in the Rostov region. “In the course of proceedings, it has been reliably established that six U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles have been used,” the statement said, adding that two missiles were shot down while the others were countered by means of electronic warfare. The statement also indicated casualties among military personnel as well as light damage to two buildings and civilian motor vehicles, all from falling fragments of the missiles.
The Russians have repeatedly said that the U<S< supplied ATACMS cannot be fired by the Ukrainians without telemetry and logistical, as well as targeting support, provided by NATO and the U.S.
“This attack by Western-made long-range weapons will not remain unanswered, and appropriate measures will be taken,” the Defense Ministry statement concluded.
