Russian Ministry in Declares Kursk Region a Federal Emergency

Aug. 10-- A federal emergency was declared Aug. 9 n Russia’s Kursk Region amid a cross-border incursion by Ukrainian forces. After an extraordinary meeting, Russia’s Emergencies Ministry stated: “The situation in the Kursk region was classified as a federal emergency.”

The decision, is mostly technical to allow certain things to happen under the Russian constitution, imposes “a federal level of response” that will allow those whose relatives were killed, were wounded themselves, or had their property damaged, to receive compensation from the Russian state, it was also pointed out.

Prior to the declaration, the Emergencies Ministry had already delivered humanitarian aid, as of yesterday amounting to 35 tons of food, 10 tons of drinking water, and 10 power stations. Also, 25 temporary facilities had been established, accommodating over 2,000 people, including 520 children.
