Source: Nothing Has Changed—We Are Going for a Nuclear Deal
Feb. 13—A source close to the Whiter House said today that "nothing has changed" in President Donald Trump's policy toward the negotiations with Iran—"we are going for a deal to prevent Iran's development of nuclear weapons for all time." The source said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu had argued strongly for inclusion of limits on Iran's ballistic missile production and a ban on its support for "terrorist" groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah when he met with Trump Feb. 11, but that Trump "heard what he was saying and rejected his proposal, just as he had rejected similar calls from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also met with Bibi Feb. 11."
Netanyahu, the Butcher of Gaza, has made no direct statements on the outcome of what he had called "emergency talks" with Trump and his negotiating team, led by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Witkoff is currently working on a compromise proposal that would let Iran, under special conditions and supervision by third parties, enrich uranium to well below levels needed for a weapon, intended to break the impasse on the issue. Witkoff has told the President that he believes that Iran is willing to compromise and wants a deal. The Iranians have already agreed to renounce weapons development, which they say has been their position for more than two decades.
Sources close to the talks now say that if a nuclear deal is struck, avoiding a dangerous attack on Iran by the U.S., they would be willing to discuss "other issues" with the Americans. These sources say that Iran might agree to some caps on the ballistic missile program, but that they would never give it up entirely as the Israelis want, as they understand the program as their only real defense against an attack by Israel or the United States. These sentiments have been confirmed in recent public statements by Iranian officials.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have denied reports coming from the Zionist press that Iran has deceived President Trump and is quietly conducting mass executions of protestors jailed in the recent anti-government riots, the which several sources and the Iranian government say were armed and fomented by Israeli agents inside Iran. The government says that the reports are total fabrications by Israeli sources and their allies in the media, In fact, they say Iran has done its best to pardon several thousand legitimate protestors arrested during the demonstrations, including those who were caught up in the riots, but were not armed and had no violent intent.
Vice President JD Vance had stated Feb. 11, prior to the talks with Bibi, that the President intended to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, and that was his focus.
Vance said he thinks President Trump would "continue to preserve" optional military actions against Iran, adding that efforts would be focused on trying "to reach a good outcome through negotiation."
"If the Iranian people want to overthrow the regime, that's up to the Iranian people. What we're focused on right now is the fact that Iran can't have a nuclear weapon," Vance told reporters who were with him on a trip to Azerbaijan.
"That's how I would describe the White House's position," said the source today. "Some people may not like it—such as Bibi and Rubio. But that is the focus, which Trump believes is doable soon."
