Tony Blair’s Hand Is All Over War Against Iran

April 14—Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister who helped orchestrate George W. Bush’s disastrous U.S. war to destroy Iraq, is now deeply involved in British and Israeli efforts to keep U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in Israel's war with Iran. Blair, according to sources, has got into Trump's inner circle through his cultivation of Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, who got Blair appointed to a top position in Trump's Board of Peace, over Arab state objections. Now, he is organizing for the British government to join the war in Iran, at Trump's side.

On March 6, Blair told a private Jewish News event that Prime Minister Keir Starmer “should have backed America from the very beginning,” and let the Trump administration use British airbases to strike Iran—remarks he hadn’t expected to go public.

U.K.’s Byline Times then wrote on March 24 how “Revealed: Tony Blair’s ‘Dodgy Iran Dossier’ Helped Shape Trump War Plan.” Nafeez Ahmed, the monthly’s head of investigations, demonstrates that the Tony Blair Institute is interlocked with United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)—the joint “Get Iran Task Force” led by top British oligarchs and intelligence agents, the Mossad, and American neocon war hawks since 2008, as EIR has documented.

Ahmed credits UANI’s January 2025 “100 Day Plan” for a war against Iran with feeding the U.S.-Israeli all-out war against Iran, noting, among other things, that U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth is listed (still!) as an advisor to UANI. UANI’s director of research on Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Kasra Aarabi “spent six years as Blair’s personal advisor on Iran at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) where he built its Iran program,” Byline Times reports, and when he shifted from the TBI to UANI in September 2023, he thanked Blair on his LinkedIn for “his mentorship and his dedication to the people of Iran.”

Kasra Aarabi and Jemima Shelley, another TBI staffer also now posted to UANI, have played a key role in promoting the line that Iranians are just waiting for an opportunity to rise up against their government. Since their days at the TBI, the two have hyped dubious polling data produced by a National Endowment for Democracy-funded Dutch polling outfit, GAMAAN, whose polling methodology (“multiple chain-referral sampling”) Byline Times demonstrates is deliberately weighted to produce the desired “regime change around the corner” conclusion.

Now, Blair has jumped in personally to back up the lies used to justify the criminal U.S.-Israeli war. In a March 26 article published by The Free Press, this moral bastard charged that the “unholy alliance” between “Islamists” and leftwing progressives are responsible for antisemitism rising in the West, by opposing Israel’s genocide in Gaza. You cannot say the Israel is committing genocide, even if “the suffering of Gaza, the death and destruction, is undeniable,” he orders. If you wish to credibly criticize Israel, you must proclaim that the Iranian regime, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah are terrorist threats to Israel. And “you cannot complain about the restrictions on goods and material going in and out of Gaza,” without saying that the material is restricted so it cannot “be used for the purpose of building a terrorist infrastructure,” etc.

Blair included a threat: Were an Oct. 7 to happen in the U.K., the U.K. would do the same as Israel, and “nothing would deter us from doing so.”
