Trump Under Siege to Change the Narrative with Iran Attack
Jan. 30—With his “beautiful” and powerful armada soon to arrive in the region, President Donald Trump is under veritable siege from a gaggle of insane advisors, led by Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and loudmouth Steve Bannon, to change the political narrative that has Trump taking a severe hit on the murderously aggressive policies of ICE in Minneapolis, by launching an attack on the Mullahs in Iran.
A source close to the White House reported that such advisors believe that “the people will rally to the President, as he moves to topple a regime that may have recently slaughtered more than 30,000 of its own people. This will put people back in his camp, as America stands for ‘justice’ and ‘an end to terror,’ and rapidly move the focus away from ICE tactics and their murder of 2 American citizens observing their actions.”
Trump Resists Push for Military Escalation
“But I can report,” said the source, “Trump has resisted the harangues on Iran, which are being supported by [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Bibi Netanyahu, for a number of reasons. First, while Trump might be sucked into some kind of quick strike or strikes, he does not believe that they would topple the regime. That’s what his best intelligence is telling him, despite the fact the Mullahs are about as popular as the plague. In fact, he has been warned by people with years of experience in the region, that any attack is likely to rally popular support for the government.
“Besides, if you follow his posts on Iran, the President has pivoted off screeching about the regime murdering its people in peaceful protests,” said the source. “That’s because he now knows that the last round of the protests was not organized and instigated by the Iranian people, but by Israeli operatives and agents (of which there are scores of the thousands inside Iran) who paid and armed unemployed youth. These weren’t protests, but an armed insurrection, organized by the Zionists and Bibi. That’s what caused the bloodshed and counterreaction by the government.
Military Leadership Warns Against Ground War
“So, Trump has pivoted back to call on the Iranians to finally make the nuclear deal that would end their ambitions, if they had any, to develop a nuclear weapon,” said the source. “That’s his message—sign the deal now. That’s what he threatens to unleash his armada to bring about. He often talks of this kind of play as being like Teddy Roosevelt, you know, ‘talk softly, but carry a big stick.’ But Trump never talks softly, but he does brandish that big stick.”
Despite what Pete Hegseth over at the Department of War says about he and the military being ready to do whatever Trump wants on Iran, it is known that the top military command is against fighting a war on the ground there—and that is what it would take to take out the regime. “There are too many unknowns in this,” said another source. “And it makes the military and Trump uncomfortable, and that’s a good thing.”
Diplomatic Track Led by Witkoff Gains Ground
Coming at Trump from the other side is Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and people working with him on a number of initiatives—the Gaza peace plan, Phase 2, ending the NATO war against Russia in Ukraine, and most importantly as it relates to Iran, getting the negotiations going toward a settlement on the nuclear deal. He is working on that latter item, as you read this, and believes that the Iranians will be negotiating soon, and that they really want to make a deal. Trump said as much yesterday, expressing his confidence that something would be worked out short of war.
Witkoff has told Trump, the source close to the White House reported, that if he should decide to attack Iran, the Gaza peace plan is history. It will not happen. Sources report, and Trump has said as much, that Tehran played a positive role in getting Hamas to accept the deal, which led to the ceasefire and end to intense fighting in Gaza, if not stopping Israel from continuing to kill Gazans entirely. Tehran reportedly told the military wing of Hamas that they would not resupply them with weapons and money—and they have so far held to that. But if Iran is attacked, all bets are off; and Iran’s threat to massively attack Israel with missiles that would show that the so‑called Iron Dome does not work is not an idle threat. There could be tens of thousands or more Israeli casualties.
For now, the sources contacted concur, Trump is not buying into the line of changing the political agenda by attacking Iran and wants to give Witkoff a chance to see if diplomacy can work. “Trump prefers to be looked at as a peacemaker,” said a source.
Even Rubio, who would normally be telling Trump to send in the bombers, is also urging some caution. “But that’s not because he wants peace,” said a source. “He wants Trump to pivot, and use military force to threaten Cuba, to force its regime out, and does not think Trump can focus on military action in two hemispheres.”
Explosions in Iran Heighten Tensions
The situation remains tense. There were multiple explosions in cities across Iran today, which prompted statements from both Israel and the State Department that neither country had anything to do with them. The Iranians said that two of the explosions were gas‑related failures in residential buildings. The internet was full of reports that these were drone strikes on military targets associated with the Revolutionary Guard that killed Guard personnel and officers in preparation for a U.S. strike. Iran strenuously denied these reports.
And the “Trump Armada” steams onto the scene. The mysterious explosions come as U.S. Central Command issued a stark warning to Iran as the repressive regime prepares to conduct live‑fire war games in the Strait on Sunday. “Any unsafe and unprofessional behavior near US forces, regional partners, or commercial vessels increases risks of collision, escalation, and destabilization,” CENTCOM wrote on X Friday.
Despite heightened tensions, Iranian officials claimed they are progressing toward a deal with the U.S. “Contrary to the hype of the contrived media war, structural arrangements for negotiations are progressing,” Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Larijani wrote today on X.
