Zelenskyy Told By U.S.: Make Concessions Or We Walk And You Get Crushed
Feb. 14—The next round of three‑way talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will take place in Geneva Feb. 17–18, and NATO’s Ukrainian dictator Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been told that if he does not deliver concessions on territory and agree to a framework for a peace deal, President Donald Trump will walk away from the process and Ukraine will be crushed on the battlefield by superior Russian forces.
Sources close to the White House termed the meeting “the last roundup for Zelenskyy,” confirming that the President blames him for the stalled negotiations. “He needs to give up on keeping any part of the Donbass and cede the territory in Donetsk that was agreed to by President Trump and [Russian President] Vladimir Putin last August in Anchorage,” said a source. “Agree to the framework for a deal that was presented to him months ago, and he has had the lack of sense to reject. If there is no progress in Geneva, then the President will walk away and let Ukraine suffer a crushing defeat on the battlefield, which could happen in weeks. Why should the Russians keep negotiating, when they will win the terms on the battlefield?”
The source said that the President blames “the Euro‑fools” — British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz — for encouraging Zelenskyy to keep fighting a war that is already lost and is slaughtering his people. But the source pointed out that Zelenskyy is likely to soon lose his biggest protector, British PM Starmer, whose already unpopular government is caught in the Epstein scandal.
'Europe and NATO Caused This War,' Source Says
“The Europeans and NATO caused this war, and Zelenskyy was their willing puppet,” said the source, “especially after Britain’s thug PM Boris Johnson scuttled a peace plan in April 2022 that both Zelenskyy and Putin had agreed to. The terms of any new peace will be far worse than under the Istanbul plan.”
Zelenskyy, said the source, reflecting thinking, “has to stop lying to himself and his people. Stop making excuses for why he can’t concede territory and make a deal, now. It is his last chance. Maybe there is someone else in Ukraine who can deliver a deal.”
Trump said Feb. 13 that Zelenskyy needs to “get moving” to secure a peace deal with Russia.
When asked by a reporter whether there had been progress in Ukraine‑Russia negotiations — and whether he was still demanding that Ukraine hold elections by the summer — Trump did not answer directly. Instead, he said Zelenskyy “is going to have to get moving. Russia wants to make a deal and Zelensky is going to have to get moving, otherwise he’s going to miss a great opportunity. He has to move.”
Russia Hardens Position; Medinsky to Lead Delegation
The Russians appear to be hardening their positions, already having offered compromises. Their delegation in Geneva will be headed by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who is both close to Putin and has taken a hard line on the need for Ukrainian concessions. He led the first round of talks in Istanbul in 2025 and also negotiated the deal in April 2022 that Boris Johnson scuttled.
Ukrainian officials described Medinsky as a “pseudo‑historian,” and he reportedly warned that Russia was prepared to continue fighting indefinitely and threatened further territorial advances if Kyiv refused Moscow’s demands.
Ukraine will send a high‑level delegation including National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Kyrylo Budanov — Zelenskyy’s chief of staff and former spy chief — and other senior officials. “The team was formed taking into account the military, political, and security components of the process,” Umerov said. “The goal remains unchanged — a stable and lasting peace.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Feb. 11 effectively dismissed a U.S.–Ukraine 20‑point plan framework, which Zelenskyy claimed formed the basis for peace negotiations. Lavrov said that ahead of the August summit in Alaska, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff handed Moscow a document outlining key issues “in line with realities on the ground.”
The minister claimed that the sides had identified “real approaches based on the American initiative” that “opened a path to peace” and could have formed the basis for a final agreement.
“All subsequent versions are the result of an attempt by Zelensky and (Europe) to override the American initiative,” Lavrov said. “Now they are waving around some kind of ‘document’ with 20 points, which no one has given us either officially or unofficially.”
Witkoff: “There Is No Deal Unless Ukraine Cedes Territory”
Witkoff, who will head the U.S. delegation along with presidential son‑in‑law Jared Kushner, has told people that the Russians are not the problem. There is no deal, he has said, unless Ukraine cedes territory. The ball is in their court.
