April 3—Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have not just reopened the diplomatic relationship between the world’s two largest nuclear weapons superpowers, but are moving to commit their nations to a new cooperative partnership, which if President Xi Jinping’s China is added, has the potential to set the world on a pathway for peace and prosperity all over the world, and beyond.

At the behest of Trump and Putin, officials from both countries are engaged in talks to hammer out the terms of a massive economic agreement in which Russia and the United States partner to develop Russia’s vast reserves of rare earths and heavy metals, believed to be the most extensive on the planet. Kirill Dimitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (Russia’s sovereign wealth fund), who serves as Putin’s envoy for international investment and cooperation, confirmed in an interview with Izvestiya March 30, that such talks are underway in Riyadh, and that the topic will be further discussed when ministers from both countries meet next week for another round of discussions on various problems and initiatives, including on a peace plan to end NATO’s war in Ukraine.

The White House has not commented on the statements by Dimitriev; however, a source familiar with the ongoing discussions said that Trump and Putin had discussed the project and both enthusiastically endorse it. “This is a huge deal,” said the source. “We are talking about something that could involve well over the equivalent of a trillion U.S. dollars, making it the largest development deal in history. The idea is to merge Russian skills and technology in mining, with American knowhow in chemical engineering and in computer mapping technologies, to come up with new and cheaper ways to extract these reserves that are needed for computer and electric vehicle and battery systems.

“Trump is seeking to base relations among nations on task-oriented plans to improve prospects for life on the planet,” said the source. “This is how he sees deals coming together in the future, and he wants the superpowers to drive this process. And he has found a partner in this in Putin. This is the methodology of peace, which is not merely the absence of armed conflict. Peace is a way to overcome distrust: set a task and work together to achieve mutually beneficial results without killing each other and destroying each other’s property. Peace is, in fact, highly profitable, in the business terms that Trump understands. American companies will make billions in this effort and others. Putin and Dimitriev are both in favor of U.S. and Russia cooperation in Space exploration, for example. Trump wants the Russians, and the Chinese to go with us back to the Moon and to go to Mars and beyond. He thinks we will achieve those goals faster if we work together. There have already been quiet discussions on these grand missions.”

This and other sources report that the proposed Trump-Putin summit is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia within the next 14 days, most likely the week after next.

These matters will be discussed at the summit, and there is hope that a ceasefire in Ukraine will also be announced—a full one, not some partial one—to begin on Easter Sunday April 20. Should that take place, it is expected that direct talks will bergin between Ukraine and Russia on a peace deal to end the war, with the outline of that plan, will be announced in Moscow May 9 at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. Putin has invited Trump to attend that celebration, and Trump has told people that he plans to attend—yet another action that has sent NATO’s command into fits.

“NATO is coming to realize that their position, not just regarding the war In Ukraine, has been lost, totally lost,” said another source. “By design, they have been excluded from all of what Trump is doing but are finding they have no real way to force themselves back into the process. Trump is not merely talking about a peace with an enemy, who NATO is fighting; he is talking about mutually beneficial and profitable economic development with this partner.

NATO is but a military alliance that enforces economic policy to serve the military-intelligence complex that in turn feeds on its policies and wars. Neither has any counter to a physical economic policy initiative. Take Ukraine, for example. Why not build the country back into a different, better economic reality—one based on Ukraine’s scientific capabilities and its research and development? That’s really what Trump was trying to do with his proposed rare earth deal. But NATO has sabotaged that. NATO wants the peace to be about weapons and more weapons, and troops on the ground to “secure an end to fighting."

“Trump, on the other hand, wants to go in a different direction, as his massive deal with Russia suggests,” the source stated. “NATO and its British masters must try to sabotage this, politically from inside Trump’s base and his administration’s militarists and NATO assets. They are trying desperately to start a war with someone: either the Houthis or Iran.

"Blocking further moves for economic cooperation and development is another NATO tactic," the source continued. "That’s what’s in play at this moment with the drive for a war with Iran. So far, Trump is not falling into this trap. In fact, quiet talks are ongoing regarding a new nuclear deal, even as the public rhetoric and threats ramp up. Remember, in the end, it is not Iran or Israel that define this. It is part of the same process—the Trump-Putin new diplomacy initiative, and this will have much to say about how an Iran deal works out or doesn’t. The Russians are involved.”

The source said that Trump’s enemies, both inside the U.S. establishment and in NATO and Europe have reached the conclusion that their own political games against Trump are not working and will likely never work. “This leads to the ‘JFK solution’ being put on the table,” said the source. “Trump is actually essential to carry the anti-NATO policy shift to fruition. Nobody but him could pull it off. As what happened to JFK shows, NATO and the Brits kill their enemies, even Presidents. Trump is aware of the threat. He knows what happened July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. The only way to protect himself is for him to keep moving forward, and to let people know who his enemies are.”
