Trump to Host Summit with Putin in Alaska Aug. 15
Summit Goals: Peace Deal and Strategic Reset
Aug. 9—President Donald Trump confirmed last night that he will host Russian President Vladimir Putin for a summit in Alaska Aug. 15 which he hopes will yield a peace plan to end NATO's proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, while resetting relations between the world's two largest nuclear superpowers. The peace deal, he stated, would include some complicated swapping of territory "to the betterment of both sides," a concept that NATO's puppet Ukrainian dictator Volodymyr Zelenskyy immediately rejected, in a video address to his war-ravaged nation.
This has led to speculation by informed sources that Zelenskyy may be on his way out as Ukrainian leader, as the leadership of the Ukrainian military has already communicated through back channels its support for a "land for peace" deal that recognizes the "reality of the battlefield," in which Ukraine under the direction of NATO and Zelenskyy has suffered enormous losses and lacks the reserve manpower to replace them. These sources say that the military leadership would oust the massively corrupt Zelenskyy and his cronies, who have stolen billions from the monies supplied by the United States.
Trump Pressures Zelenskyy to Clear Path for Agreement
Zelenskyy has claimed that he cannot change Ukraine's borders, and he is barred by its constitution from doing so. But President Trump, who believes that a ceasefire and peace deal are now within grasp, will not tolerate blocking by either Zelenskyy or his European NATO backers. Trump yesterday downplayed those concerns, saying he’d urged Zelenskyy to smooth the path toward an agreement. “He’s going out and getting what he needs,” Trump said. “He’s not authorized to do certain things. I said, ‘Well, you’re going to have to get it fast, because, you know, we’re getting very close to a deal.’”
Zelenskyy also urged that Trump put in place immediately the tariffs on purchasers of Russian energy products and other tariffs on Russia directly that were to go into place yesterday. As of this report, there is no word from the White House on what, if anything, will be done on the tariffs.
Putin’s Proposal: Territorial Concessions and Ceasefire
Sources close to the White House report that Putin, in a meeting this week with Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, had expressed a willingness to make concessions on the territory Russia had seized since the start of its "Special Military Operation" in February 2022. The Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, is not part of these discussions. Instead, the discussions are focused on the four eastern oblasts in the Donbass region, which voted in referendum while occupied to become part of the Russian Federation. And it is in these territories where concessions would be made.
The plan Putin presented to Witkoff would require Ukraine to cede the eastern Donbas region — the majority of which is currently occupied by Russia — as well as Crimea. Russia would agree to a ceasefire in place, with an agreement that neither side would resupply its forces or fortify its positions. It wasn’t clear what the plan would mean for two other regions in Ukraine — Zaporizhzhia and Kherson — where Russia controls some territory, beyond Russia stopping its offensive there.
A source close to the White House said that the plan represents a major concession from Putin, who has in the past insisted "on the whole enchilada, that he wanted to keep all territory taken, and that he intended to fight on to seize remaining sections of those areas now in the Russian Federation." These sources say that there has never been any intention to take control of the Ukraine. "The Russians have never attempted to seize Kyiv, which they could have done at great cost in civilian lives," said a source. "Trump has known this all along—even if that punk Zelenskyy and his NATO bosses say otherwise. They claim that they have beaten back the beast, denying the reality of the limited goals of this campaign."
Future Relations and Global Strategic Cooperation
Not stated, but still central to Putin's demands is that Ukraine never be allowed to join NATO, something that the delusional Zelenskyy says he will never agree to.
Zelenskyy seemed defiant last night, despite being ordered by Trump to get authorization for and be willing to make concessions on land. In his statement after Trump’s announcement, Zelensky said: “Any decisions that are against us, any decisions that are without Ukraine, are also decisions against peace. These are dead solutions. They will never work. And we all need a real, living peace that people will respect.”
He claimed that Ukraine was "ready to work together with President Trump,” but vowed his people “will not give their land to the occupier.”
"Zelenskyy is backing himself into a corner," said a White House source, who says that what the Ukrainian dictator is doing amounts to sabotage of the President's efforts to push through a peace plan. "If he is unwilling to agree to land concessions, then he will have to resign and let a new government make the deal. Trump will demand that. He will offer him asylum, maybe in Miami or Hollywood, and agree not to prosecute him and his cronies for the billions they stole. But he [Trump] is also willing to let the Ukrainians deal with this problem, which would not end nicely for Zelenskyy."
Trump is seeking much more than a Ukraine deal with Putin. With the "Russia, Russia, Russia" hoax being exposed and its perpetrators under possible criminal indictment, Trump wants a full strategic reset in U.S./Russian relations, seeing cooperation possible on a number of matters, including solving the Iran nuclear weapons problem. It is believed that Putin shares the same goal, and would like to see a broad working agreement between Russia and the U.S., which would also involve China and its President Xi Jinping, who is also said to be planning a summit in the near future with Trump.
Kremlin Presidential aide Yury Ushakov, who confirmed the meeting in Alaska, adding that it “seems quite logical” for such an important summit to take place in Alaska with the Russian delegation simply flying over the Bering Strait and the two countries’ maritime border, revealed Putin has already invited Trump for a follow-up meeting in Russia, and has accepted. Ushakov also confirmed that there are more items on the agenda for the Alaska summit than Ukraine.
