Anti-Fascist Congress with 30 Countries Convenes in Minsk

Aug. 19, 2023 (EIRNS)—Yesterday, the Second Anti-Fascist Congress convened in Minsk, Belarus, another in the series of events this week that began with the opening of the Army-2023 Military-Technical Forum in Moscow on Aug. 14 and included the Moscow International Security Conference on Aug. 15. The summary reports that over 30 countries participated in the congress, which “aims to unite healthy international forces to confront the spread of fascist and Nazi ideas and preserve the historical truth about World War II.” Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu delivered the keynote address in which he noted that fighting against Nazism has become an even more topical issue.

“Western globalist elites continue to talk about their exceptionalism, triggering deadly conflicts and coups, fostering Russophobia and aggressive nationalism, destroying morality and family values, and trying to impose their will on other nations, along with their system of violence and suppression,” he said, according to the summary issued by the Russian Defense Ministry. “The goal of today’s revanchists is to ensure Russia’s disintegration and collapse, destroy the Union State [of Russia and Belarus], and finally break down the system of global security and international law. This is exactly the reason for the catastrophe the Ukrainian people are enduring today. They have become hostages to the criminal Kiev regime and its Western masters and are being used as a bargaining chip for the implementation of the brutal, perfidiously evil plans.”

Also addressing the conference was Viktor Goremykin, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and Head of the Main Military and Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces. He declared: “The collective West is unwilling to accept the creation of a multipolar world and aims to protect its hegemony via any means, including armed force.” He pointed out that the collective West continues to arm the Kiev regime, forcing it to launch suicidal counter-offensives to claim tactical victories that include massive losses in manpower and hardware, and otherwise doing everything possible to prolong and escalate the conflict.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Fomin emphasized that neo-Nazi ideology in Ukraine had been elevated to the rank of state policy, which was actively promoted by Kiev’s Western masters. “It is obvious that Ukrainian neo-Nazis are in the vanguard of the so-called civilization war that the West is waging against Russia,” he said.
