Zakharova Demonstrates That London Is Behind Ukrainian Drone Attacks
Sept. 6—Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova charged yesterday that London is behind Ukrainian drone attacks on targets inside Russia. She reported on Sept, 4 that the examination of drone components showed that the drones were originally configured by British companies at locations in Britain, and were then assembled in and launched from territories controlled by Kyiv.
“We regard these facts as evidence of London’s approval of the terrorist methods used by the Kyiv regime. Britain’s actual financing and involvement in preparing attacks on the civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians in Russia makes London fully responsible, on a par with its Kiev puppets, for the continuing bloodshed,” she said in a ministry statement.
“The concerned Russian agencies take Britain’s destructive activity and its relentless striving to escalate the conflict into account. Conclusions are made, and the best response algorithms are considered, but it would not be right to speak openly about the details of this work, for obvious reasons. We would like to remind you, though, about the warning issued by the Foreign Ministry on May 6, 2024, that any U.K. military facilities and equipment on Ukrainian territory and beyond could be hit as a response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory with British weapons.
“We call on London, which is sacrificing Ukrainian people and Ukrainian statehood to promote its own geopolitical interests, to immediately stop supporting the inhuman regime and refrain from any other actions that can further escalate the conflict,” Zakharova concluded the statement.
The British government, in fact, has long bragged about its leading role in supplying the Kyiv regime with drones. In June 2023, the portal Defense News reported that the U.K.’s International Fund for Ukraine paid for the supply of Portuguese-made drones, that were later suspected of being used in the May 2024 attacks on the Armavir and Orsk early warning radars in southern Russia. In March 2024, then-U.K. Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced that the U.K. government was increasing its financial commitment to supply drones to Ukraine from £200 million to £325 million, to buy 10,000 drones for Ukraine, including 1,000 one-way attack drones.
