To Stop the Genocide, Send in the Marines!

March 5—As you read this, negotiators in Paris are hammering out details of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas that is intended to help lessen the humanitarian disaster created by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s genocidal war of extermination against the Palestinian people. Israel is reported to have accepted the outlines of this deal already—but we have heard such reports before, including as recent as last week.

Bibi is now under intense pressure from the White House of President Joe Biden, who sees both his presidency and the moral standing of the United States sliding down the bloody hill created by the slaughter in Gaza. Sleepy Joe may not be all there, but he is cognizant and politically awake enough to be aware that last week’s Michigan Democratic party primary, where an enraged Arab population and others organized an unprecedented 20% “uncommitted” vote, was a big blow to Biden. Were a similar voting pattern to manifest elsewhere, Biden’s race for re-election would be doomed before he is even re-nominated.

It is with this in mind, that Biden had Vice President Kamala Harris actually call March 3 for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza and demand that Israel allow an increased flow of aid to its starving and dying population, which has suffered from nearly four months of relentless Israeli attack that has already claimed more than 30,000 civilian lives, including thousands of women and children; even more bodies lie buried in the rubble. Harris made her demand standing on the infamous Edmund Pettus Bridge In Selma, Alabama in a commemoration of the "Bloody Sunday" beating of peaceful civil rights protestors by State Police on March 7, 1965.

Meanwhile, the U.S. has begun air drops of food, directly to the Gaza population. But Palestinian authorities say that while obviously helpful, the amounts dropped are literally a drop in the huge bucket of what is needed. And even if Israel were to allow the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which it falsely accuses of being a pawn and operative of Hamas terrorists, to do its job properly, neither they nor the Red Crescent nor all the relief agencies put together can save the Palestinian people.

Something far more drastic is needed and is needed now. There is a capability in the area that could start getting the job done: The U.S. military and the forces of the naval armada which Biden has dispatched to the region for possible support for Israel, or as some intelligence sources and others fear, to engage in a wider war, with other targets, including possibly Iran. Discarding such lunacy, these forces could be used for both peacekeeping of a longer-term truce between Israel and Hamas and other Palestinian groups, but, more importantly, to get massive amounts of aid and medical assistance to those who need it.

Create airfields, where massive amounts of aid and the trucks and other means required to distribute it can be flown in. Create temporary port facilities, as another means of bringing in such aid. Use the military’s logistic capabilities to set up distribution points. Build and staff temporary hospitals and other medical facilities, as we do for our own wounded in war or in natural disasters.

Gaza needs potable water. The aircraft carriers in our battlegroups have tremendous nuclear-powered desalination capabilities. Set them up, along with the necessary pipelines, to deliver water for simple hydration, cooking, cleaning, and sanitation. Deliver nutritious food in sufficient quantity and quality to return the starving to good health. Deliver medicines and medical supplies to heal the sick and wounded.

We can tell the Israelis that we intend to stop the dying, stop the genocide that they have clearly unleashed. People have said that Joe Biden could stop the slaughter with one call to Bibi, threatening to cut off U.S. military aid to Israel. Well, stuttering Joe has already said something to this effect, and Bibi has ignored him. The messianic Netanyahu believes he must slaughter Palestinians to prevent the creation of Palestinian state and to prevent the return of some 14 million Palestinian diaspora to their rightful homeland. The scale of the human disaster that this maniac has unleashed will not abate significantly unless it is met with an appropriately scaled relief effort. The U.S. military has the capability to get this job done; the American people can also be mobilized. For example, our farmers can ramp up production of food stocks to replace what we might deplete from our already existing reserves.

The future of Palestine and Israel, the hope for peace in the region, ultimately depends on a long-term region-wide economic development plan. Such a plan was formulated by the late American statesman and leading physical economist, Lyndon LaRouche—The Oasis Plan—now being circulated worldwide by the Schiller Institute, chaired by his wife, Helga Zepp-LaRouche. But right now, we need an emergency plan to get aid on the scale needed, and the U.S could and should take the lead in that effort.

Does Joe Biden have the guts to issue the orders to send in the Marines—and the Army, and Air Force and Navy—to deploy for peace, and save lives? Will he tell Bibi: “This is not up to you. We declare your insane war over, and we intend to save lives.” Will Bibi then order his Israel Defense Forces to fire on us? What do you think? He had better not!
